Food waste half full loblaws.jpg

“Why should we care about food waste? Because 58% of food produced for Canadians is lost or wasted. Half Full is a series that looks at the problem of food waste and sees great opportunity.” - Loblaws, Insider Project, Half Full

I am featured as the wild food enthusiast in the "Homework" episode to share tips on keeping meat fresh for longer in the fridge or freezer. Below is a longer cut of my part in the film, and I've also written a much more detailed article sharing tips on how to properly store meat in the fridge and freezer. Hope you find these tips helpful!

Chasing Food Club's Role in the Project

My involvement involved creating my own script, set and creative direction for my part in the documentary. In addition, helping Director, James Ried source talent and locations for other parts in the series, such as Chef Derek Gray from Row 14.

Filming for my part was done in partnership with my good friends Matt Miles and Jayce Hawkins at Approach Media. All raw content was passed on to Motioneer Owner, James Ried for post-production.

Really, these boys don’t mess around! I was trying cut corners and they wouldn’t yell “it’s a wrap” until each scene was perfect.

Curious to know your thoughts on the film and what tips you found the most helpful. Thank you again for watching and continuing to build a community of mindful eaters!

My purpose is to serve others by sharing the stories and lessons I gain from interesting individuals who hunt, gather, and protect our wild lands. I hope to start a movement of mindful eaters, erase the stigma of hunters and encourage you to do what you love and do it often.
